We work together to continually develop and implement sustainable solutions. Through Green Thread, our environmental sustainability platform, we bring innovative and efficient solutions to life. We are passionately focused on reducing the environmental impact within our operations.

Here are just a few ways we work to make our campus more environmentally conscious:

Coolfood

CF Low Carbon

Dining Services has made a commitment to serve Coolfood meals on a regular basis. These meals are identified with the Coolfood logo. Coolfood recognizes recipes with a low carbon impact. These meals are World Resource Institute certified that meet an established green house gas emissions threshold and nutritional standards.

Dining Services is proud to serve sustainably farmed and fished seafoods. All seafood served is sustainably certified by either the Aquaculture Stewardship Council or Marine Stewardship Council.

Local Purchasing

Source Responsibly

Did you know Dining Services sources food from many local farmers, growers and distributors? The list changes throughout the year depending on seasonality and availability. However, here is a sampling of a few of our partners:

Recycling

Minimize Food Waste
Dining Services partners with campus to recycle from all dining locations across campus. We are committed to minimizing our environmental footprint. Look for signs in our locations for information on where to put your recyclables.

Trayless Dining

Did you know Dining Services has been trayless since 2008. By dining trayless, you have helped positively impact the waste stream. Dining trayless minimizes food waste, conserves energy and water, and reduces the amount of cleaning chemicals entering the waste stream.

Reusables

The best way to reduce waste is to avoid creating it in the first place. All meals are served in the dining hall use reusable cutlery and dishware.
Please bring a water bottle or your own mug/cup for coffee and water to go.
We also offer catering services that use reusable serving ware and serviettes.
